I am super giddy to be doing this post today.

Kinda cause I really like this product.

These babies are an easy to use sprayable fabric paint that you can use on virtually and fabric and it WILL NOT make it all stiff and scratchy.

Pretty great right?

They have a fairly good range of colors and products, but today I am demoing the

Simply Spray

In Noir.

I came across a pair of vintage lucite lamps for my daughters room and instantly knew they were coming home with us.

They needed shades, thus beginning the quest for a decent priced black shades.

If you have ever looked for a black shade you know that they are tough to come by and way more pricey.

I thought this would be the perfect time to try out this new fabric spray and see if it lived up to it's claims.

I picked a white shade but you could easily use a tan/beige one. Just pick a shape and texture you like.

First spray the inside of your shade with whatever color you want to peek out.

If you get any of the black fabric paint on the inside you can wipe it clean with a damp cloth before it dries.

The spray takes about 2 coats for good coverage, maybe a little more.

Put the shades on a poster board to dry as they will drip some.

In total it took about 1.5 cans for each shade.

You will notice that the finished shade is not exactly like the shades I started with...that is because I thought the ones I picked would work fine, but it turns out I didn't measure and they were a bit to overwhelming for the lamps.

DUH.

I know.

Over all I am super pleased with their product and would recommend it.

I am going to be trying the stencil spray next.

Lets see if I can come up with a creative way to use it!

Man I am a sucker for anything with this little Greek Key pattern. I adore the strong detail and the fact that it seems to transcend time. It's a classic that always transforms it's self to modern day.

Matte and loving it....

So begins the battle of gloss or matte.
The look of an nonglossy item has a warm authentic feel.
Don't get me wrong I lurv a good lacquered piece.... but I think some pieces are just screaming to be in a chalky matte finish.

French furniture has always been a favorite, those Parisians know how to do it right.
But like any well dressed space there has to be a balance between the lustrous and the muted.

I am in need of some major help! Some serious decisions must be made!

My amazingly talented baby girl is auditioning for a HUGE roll....well several actually.

This month she is going for 3 parts...Cozzette from Les Miserables, Scout from To kill a mocking bird, and a child's part in Peter Pan.

Talk about a fun filled month right?

Now I know that Scout is not really the perfect part for her considering she is a blonde girly girl, but it's good practice for the roles we hope she gets.

Here is where I am calling out for help...she needs to use a head shot and being that I am her mother and cannot be expected to pick the shot that could make or break this moment for her, I need you to step in.

Make an unbiased opinion.

I admit I still have one more day of vaca till I must be back at the store and to my real life.

The kids are back in school this morning....praise the lord, but with the holiday we worked Saturday during the day so decided to be closed on Monday.

I would be lying if I said I have just been so busy I haven't been able to post....but the truth is I have been been kidless for a couple days{visiting Grandma}, I am off work, and all the Christmas decor is packed away!

I have no excuse, other than I have been enjoying a little hiatus.

Sleeping in, watching movie's and some much needed pampering.

All good things must come to and end.

I am ready to put on my big girl panties and get back to work.

Over the weekend I got quite a bit checked off my to do list and my Holiday decor was one of them.

I left out a few of my favorite's this year...including setting out all of my children's hand ornaments.

Not because I am going all bah humbug, but because we are currently housing a monster of a 2 year old! The heart break it would cause me to loose some of those irreplaceable items is just not worth it.

All in all I think we still have a pretty festive showing....

There is no debating the genius this women is.

I am particularly drawn to the use of vintage and art nouveau pieces scattered around her spaces.

I am probably one of the last people on the planet who still watch Grey Anatomy, I really have no excuse.

Pretty sure everyone has slept with everyone at least once.

It's kinda just brainless TV.

More of a habit really.

I do however adore Kim Raver.

I think she should be a much bigger star then her Grey's part she plays.

A girls trip to Vegas will do that to you.

I did a good amount of shopping and one of my favorite purchases where the Eddie flats by Tori Burch so I felt a little inspired by the metallic silver mixed with the mesmerizing crystals.

We had a killer turnout and a fantastic party.

I feel like I have hit the floor running this morning. So much to do and so little time to do it in.

Tonight is the annual Holiday party at my store and I still have mounds of set and prep to cover.

I don't usually post to many personal photo's, cause lets face it you not here to see my shinning face.

But I had so much fun at my husbands Cross Fit Competition this weekend I just have share a few and brag a little about how well he did.

He took 2nd in his diversion at the local event and 5th overall for the whole state.

Not to shabby.

Plus his Clean and Jerk was 240 lbs!

30 lbs more than anyone at the event!

It was such a blast watching all the competitors, I am in awe of what they can do!

If you have never seen Cross Fit check some videos online you will be shocked too!

On a side note we got 3 inches of snow last night, so I am going to be bundling up and lighting one of these...

Coco anyone???

I came across this new nail head trim and thought it was just to cool not to share. I don't do a lot of DIY's but this could be the perfect detail to update some boring pieces.

Oooo I am so excited to share some brilliant art with you all today!

I came across the work of Ann Marshall a few days ago and was stopped dead in my tracks!

Girl is mind boggling.

Something about the way she combines elements makes her work so interesting.

I literally could not stop pinning her designs.

She also does Giclees prints as well.

I am going to act like I totally know how to pronounce that...but for those of you who don't

check it out.

Pay attention there is a test at the end of the post!

Wow I feel like an elderly person complaining about all the late nights I have had these past few days.

Mamma needs her beauty rest.

Haislee {my baby girl} and I have been hard at work on our Doll House challenge, just waiting for a few more order miniatures to come via mail and we will have some sweet spaces to share.

In the mean time I came across these spooky houses built entirely out of legos.

YUP.

Legos.

No I am serious they are legos...

Built by an artist named Mike Doyle.

They contain 50~60k pieces and over 450 hours of time.

This makes my super chic castle I built look like a poor excuse for a Sunday afternoon activity.

Wonder if these have blueprints I could follow?

WTF, right?

Nay, nay!

You see, I had a huge design dilemma.

I bought this exquisite vintage floor mirror.

I was told it was 6ft tall and guilted.

Guilted yes, but more along the height of about 5ft.

She is so stunning I really wanted her to work.

Girls gotta see if she looks as stunning as she feels right?

Anyway, back to the problem.

I didn't want to hang it, then it becomes too formal.

If it sat on the floor it cut off my head...probably not the best part of me but I still need it!

I did what any pretentious designer would do....

Went log hunting.

Oooo, I had a plan.

A lustrous, sparkly dream.

My mirror just needed a little lift.

Pretty polished for a log right?

Good thing my husband does CrossFit, cuz this lavish hunk of tree weighs a ton.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, we took one more family trip to the lake.

The tempiture was perfection and the scenery was stunning.

Sigh I do adore Summer.

AD has brought us another insider view from the rich and famous Ellen and Portia.

I really feel like this house gives a great impression on how they live.

The oversized sofas, and the weathered dinning chairs mixed with industrial stools! Who knewthat E had such charming taste? I really am smitten with the glass and steel ping pong table. I never thought I would say a game table could be so lavish!I hear they just put this estate on the market in Beverly Hills for $49 Million.

I also want to give a HUGE hug and many thanks to a couple of my favorite Super Stars in the blogging world!I was so lucky this last week to have won not 1 but 2 giveaways!I know right I am still squealing with delight.
