Sherwin-Williams National Painting Week // Mid Century Peacock Chair

Friday, April 11, 2014

It's that time of year again! I love Sherwin-Williams National Painting Week. So many bloggers with so many brilliant ways to use color. I'm always bound to be inspired. Have you enjoyed all the projects from this week? If you missed any be sure to pop over to SW Painting Week to see all of them. SW really put together an amazing group this year. And to see what the other Friday girls have been up to using purple click it over to  Curbly and Thrifty Decor Chic....its good, real good.

This year I got the privilege of working with the color Purple. Kinda a stretch for me, but I am always up to push my limits. I know its SW Painting Week, but I couldn't help but take my cues from Radiant Orchid from this years color of the year. With that as my starting point the hunt for an accent piece began.  You. Guys. I was lucky enough to find this ugly little ducking.

All dusty and covered in over spray. I'm sure you have all seen this style of chair at Anthro for a thousand plus. I could just see her now... restored to a former glory. I chose to work with two colors so the chair had depth. I sprayed the whole chair with my SW TradeWorks 170 Sprayer  in Verve Violet as the all over color. When it was dry I hand brushed the back in Drama Violet.

Ignore my chipped and grown out mani. Ewe! But can you see where this is going....

I think I handled purple like a pro. Wouldn't she be so cute on a front porch? Hmmmm now to decide to keep or sale? That's a real problem when you own a vintage shop! Maybe I'll just try it out this weekend and see!

  1. How lovely! I adore the radiant orchidesque hue you selected. Though I'm also quite taken with the lucite "XO" on your side table. They're so chic!
